What we do | · Education of Ophthal-otorhinolaryngology and dermatology related disease theory and clinical application · Treatment and dosage form development research for Ophthal-otorhinolaryngology and dermatology related disease · Treatment of various Ophthal-otorhinolaryngology and dermatology related disease · Skin care through Korean Medical approach · Management of specialized conditions such as Cross-eye, Ringing and hearing impairment, Allergic rhinitis, Skin itchiness. 1) Cross-eye Clinic ① Target : Cross-eye(paralytic, synergistic), Amblyopia(weakness of sight) ② Intro: Cross eye is when one eye points to a direction other then the intended direction of the other eye. Amblyopia refers to impairment in sight without any problems in the eye itself, which cannot be corrected by glasses. 50 percent of all amblyopia cases accompany cross-eye. At the clinic, we restore muscular function around the eye through acupuncture and herbal medicine so that eyesight is restored and the visual axis of both eyes are directed toward the same point. 2) Ringing and Hearing Impairment Clinic ① Target: All disease that cause ringing and hearing impairment ② Intro: Ringing is when the patient hears all sorts of noises without actual sound coming from the outside, which can lead to hearing impairment in severe cases. At the clinic, deficiency and excessiveness of the Zhangfu is examined, after which acupuncture and herbal medicine along with ear needling therapy is applied to manage the Yin-Yang condition of the Zhangfu to treat ringing and hearing impairment and to suppress its progress. 3) Allergic Rhinitis Clinic ① Target: Allergic rhinitis ② Intro: Allergic rhinitis is defined by spasmodic sneezing, clear nasal discharge, nasal obstruction and itchiness in the eye, nose, and throat. At the clinic, we use the Jeongche therapy to treat the condition. The Jeongche therapy is to emphasize the patient's entire physical condition and to treat other complications simultaneously rather than local approach to the nose. 4) Skin Itchiness Clinic ① Target: All disease accompanying skin itchiness ② Intro: Itchiness is the most common symptom in the field of dermatology, which is an unpleasant sensation that triggers the desire to scratch or rub the skin. It can be caused by various diseases, and treatment varies according to causal conditions. |

Prospects | In recent years, medical demand for ① Ophthalmic disease such as nearsightedness, amblyopia, dry eye, asthenopia caused by excessive accessibility to Internet and premature education, ② Various allergic disease(allergic rhinitis, atopic dermititis, rash, allergic conjunctivitis, etc.) due to destruction of the environment, ③ Various skin conditions which used to be overlooked but has gained new attention following improved standard of living such as acne, ④ Disease group caused by various adult diseases due to excessive stress, is growing. However, there is difficulty in treating these conditions as they tend to progress slowly, while their management involves not only lessening the symptoms but considering relapse. The department is dedicated to finding answers to these problems through Korean Medicine, and consider its future to be bright. Treatment of conditions such as ophthalmic fatigue, dizziness, ringing in the ears, recurring rhinitis, allergic disease have limitations in Western Medicine from the aspects of symptom relief and recurrence. As such, the demand for Korean Medical approach is growing. In fact, the cure rate for these conditions through Korean Medicine is quite high, which is reflected in many clinics specializing in treating these conditions. Ample research is necessary. |
